Hireflix Alternatives: 7 Options Compared for 2026

Hireflix is a one-way video interview tool: you send questions, candidates record answers on their own time, and your team watches the recordings. It does that job well. The reason to look elsewhere is usually what happens after the recording. Someone still has to watch every video, and nothing tells you whether the answers are true. The alternatives below split into three groups: assessment platforms, technical testing tools, and AI interviewers that evaluate the answers for you. We are one of them, so we say where we fit and where we don’t.

    Screen Candidates Beyond the Recording
Resyme conducts role-tailored interviews, checks answers for honesty, and compares candidates to help recruiters spend less time on pre-screening.

    TL;DR

    • Hireflix is a flat-price, unlimited-interview recorder. Its weak spot is that humans must still review every video.
    • Testlify, Vervoe, Codility, Mercer | Mettl and iMocha are assessment or testing platforms. They measure skills well but are not built around conversational interviews.
    • Resyme runs the interview itself, tailors questions to the role, checks answers for honesty and produces comparable reports. The Company plan is €599 per month, and single interviews cost €4.50 to €7.99.
    • Pick by bottleneck: reviewing time, skills proof, coding ability, or enterprise scale.

What Hireflix does, and where teams outgrow it

Hireflix sells asynchronous video interviewing. According to its own pricing page, every plan includes all features: unlimited user seats, positions and interview responses. The Small plan, for companies under 50 employees, is $75 per month billed yearly. The Medium plan, for 50 to 250 employees, is $150 per month billed yearly. It also advertises a one-month free trial, custom retake and thinking times, bulk CSV invites, white-labeling and automatic email, SMS and WhatsApp reminders.

That is a strong deal for teams that want a clean candidate experience and cheap volume. Teams tend to outgrow it for three reasons:

    1. Review time does not shrink. Two hundred applicants means two hundred videos. You saved the scheduling, not the watching.
    2. Questions are yours to write. The tool records what you ask. If you hire for a specialist role you don’t know well, weak questions produce weak signal.
    3. No built-in honesty check. A polished recording of a rehearsed or assisted answer looks the same as a real one.

If none of those hurt you, Hireflix may be all you need. If one does, read on.

    How to compare the alternatives

Before looking at tools, decide what you actually need the tool to do. We use five criteria:

    • Interview format: recorded video, text, voice, or a mix.
    • Automation: does software score or summarize answers, or do you?
    • Verification: proctoring, plagiarism detection, or checks on whether answers are genuine.
    • Pricing model: flat subscription, credits, or pay per interview.
    • Fit: high volume, agency, startup with no ATS, or enterprise.

    The alternatives at a glance

Tool Best for Interview format Published pricing
Resyme Screening volume and specialist roles with automated, comparable reports AI-led behavioral interview, voice and text Company €599/month, Agency €4,500/month, Interview €4.50-€7.99 each
Testlify Skills assessments plus video interviews Assessments and video with auto-scoring Starter $99/month to Premium $1,499/month (2025 report)
Vervoe Job simulations graded by AI Simulations with audio, video and file uploads Starter around $100/month (2026 report)
Codility Engineering hiring Coding tasks and live interviews Starter $150/month, Scale $500/month (2026 report)
Mercer Mettl Enterprise assessment programs Tests, proctored exams, assessment centers
iMocha Skills intelligence inside large HR stacks 3,000+ skill tests, live coding Custom

One more name comes up often: myInterview. An October 2026 pricing comparison left it out because it was reportedly absorbed into Radancy after an acquisition announced in September 2025, with no standalone public pricing page. If you are evaluating it, ask for a written quote.

Resyme: the interview does the screening

Resyme replaces the recorded-video step with an automated interview that runs the conversation. It is built for recruiters who cannot afford to watch every candidate.

    • Role-tailored questions. Questions draw on domain knowledge for the role and are behaviorally anchored, so a nurse recruiter and a SaaS sales recruiter do not get the same script.
    • Honesty and integrity validation. The platform checks answers for consistency with the candidate’s resume and LinkedIn profile, with voice and text detection.
    • Behavioral and skill profiling. Each candidate gets a report you can compare side by side. You can see the format in the sample AI interview report.
    • Candidate experience. The interview is accessible and done on the candidate’s schedule.

Pricing: Company is €599 per month, Agency is €4,500 per month, and a single interview costs from €4.50 to €7.99. There is a Free plan, and Enterprise pricing is not published.

Fits: high-volume recruiters, agencies, small businesses with no HR team, and startups hiring without an ATS. Doesn’t fit: a team that only wants a cheap recorder and plans to judge every answer personally. Hireflix is simpler for that.

    Testlify: assessments first, video second

Testlify is an AI-powered assessment platform covering technical, cognitive, role-specific, personality and coding tests, with video interviewing, auto-scoring, white-labeling and integrations. Fit Small Business reported in 2025 that plans ran from Starter at $99 per month for 30 candidate credits and 3 users, up to Premium at $1,499 per month for 1,000 credits and 20 users, with Basic at $299 and Business at $599 in between. The same review credits it for distributed and global hiring, and warns buyers to account for credit limits, annual commitments and paid add-ons.

It is a good choice when proof of skill matters more than conversation. The trade-off is that you buy credits per candidate, so cost scales with volume.

    Vervoe: job simulations

Vervoe puts candidates through realistic work tasks and ranks them with AI grading. It supports custom assessments and audio, video and file uploads. Fueler reported in 2026 that the Starter plan began around $100 per month, with Growth and Enterprise priced custom.

It works for roles where doing the work is the best test: customer support, sales, admin. It is less suited to roles where the question is behavior and judgment under pressure, which is where structured interviews do better.

    Codility: for engineering teams

Codility is a technical-recruiting platform with practical coding tasks, code playback, question libraries, complexity analysis, plagiarism detection and ATS integrations. Vecosys reported in 2026 that Starter was $150 per month ($1,200 per year) and Scale $500 per month ($5,000 per year), with Enterprise custom. The same report notes that Starter caps you at 120 invitations a year, which matters for any team screening in volume.

It is the right pick if you hire developers and nothing else. It is not a general interviewing tool.

    Mercer | Mettl: enterprise assessment

Mercer | Mettl covers coding, aptitude, psychometric, domain and communication tests, with AI proctoring, hackathons, case studies and virtual assessment centers. The Vecosys 2026 report says pricing is custom and delivery spans 100+ countries. Proctoring is its strongest verification story. Expect a sales process and implementation work, so it suits large organizations more than a five-person recruiting team.

    iMocha: skills intelligence

iMocha offers 3,000+ skill tests, AI skill mapping and gap analysis, live coding interviews, AI proctoring and custom assessments. For integrations, Vecosys lists Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, iCIMS and Taleo and says pricing is custom. That integration list points to large HR departments already running one of those systems.

Which one fits your hiring situation

    High-volume recruiters

Your constraint is review time. Recorded video makes it worse; an interview that produces a scored, comparable report makes it better. Credit-based assessment tools work if per-candidate cost fits your margins, so check credit caps first. For more on this problem, see our guide to high-volume hiring tools.

    Recruitment agencies

Agencies need many roles in many domains at once, with reports they can hand to clients. White-labeling (Hireflix and Testlify both offer it) helps with branding. An agency plan with predictable cost, such as our Agency plan at €4,500 per month, helps with budgeting. Compare against your cost per placement, not your cost per seat.

Startups and small businesses without an ATS

You don’t need a testing suite, an enterprise contract or a proctoring program. You need to cut down a stack of applicants fast. Hireflix’s flat low price and pay-per-interview pricing like ours are the two sensible ends of that range. Pay-per-interview is better if you hire in bursts, because you pay nothing in quiet months.

    Engineering and technical hiring

Use Codility, or iMocha for broader skill coverage, then add a behavioral interview so you also learn how the person works.

What to check before you switch

Candidate experience. Take the candidate flow yourself on a phone. Look at time to complete, retake rules, accessibility and whether the instructions are clear. Drop-off hides inside awkward flows.

Privacy. Ask where recordings and transcripts are stored, how long, and who can access them. If you hire in the EU, ask about GDPR terms; in the US, check state rules on AI in hiring such as those in the jurisdictions where you recruit, and talk to your employment counsel.

Reliability of AI scoring. Ask for an explanation of how each score is produced. A score you cannot trace to specific answers is hard to defend to a hiring manager or a candidate. Run ten past candidates through a trial and see whether the ranking matches your real hires.

Verification. Proctoring watches the test environment. Honesty validation compares what a candidate says against their background and checks how the answer was produced. They solve different problems; decide which risk you have.

Contract terms. Look for annual commitments, credit expiry and paid add-ons before comparing monthly prices.

Perspective: why interviewing needs its own tool

Most tools in this comparison started from a different job. Video recorders started from convenience, assessment platforms from testing. Neither started from the thing recruiters struggle with most: a candidate who sounds great on paper and in a polished answer, then does not match either when they are hired.

We built Resyme around that gap. A good screening interview asks questions that come from knowing the role, follows up on behavior rather than opinions, and cross-checks what is said against the resume and LinkedIn. It then puts every candidate into the same format so the comparison is fair. Recording a video does none of that on its own, and a skills test only covers part of it.

So our advice is plain. If your problem is scheduling, buy a recorder. If your problem is proof of a specific skill, buy an assessment. If your problem is that you cannot tell who is telling the truth across hundreds of applicants, you need an interviewer. Strong behavioral questions also follow a known structure, which is explained well in this guide to competency-based interview techniques.

    FAQ

Is Hireflix a video interview platform?

Yes. Hireflix is a one-way (asynchronous) video interview tool. You set questions, candidates record answers whenever they like, and your team reviews the recordings later. It is not a live meeting tool.

What is the cheapest Hireflix alternative?

It depends on volume. Hireflix itself is inexpensive at $75 or $150 per month billed yearly, so alternatives rarely beat it on sticker price alone. For low or irregular volume, paying per interview, as with Resyme at €4.50 to €7.99, can cost less than any monthly plan. Resyme also has a Free plan.

Which alternative is best for high-volume screening?

Choose a tool that scores answers for you, because watching videos does not scale. Resyme produces comparable reports for each candidate, and assessment platforms like Testlify auto-score tests. Check credit limits first, since caps such as Codility’s 120 yearly invitations on Starter can bite.

Do I need an ATS to use these tools?

Not always. Many of these platforms integrate with an ATS, but startups and small businesses can run interviews and review reports without one. Resyme is built to work for teams hiring without an ATS.
